Consultation and Engagement

Consultation and Engagement

The Department of Justice Canada regularly consults and engages with Canadians, key stakeholders, and Indigenous partners, on issues and matters of importance to them to ensure their authentic voices are heard. The feedback received helps to inform legislative, policy and program initiatives.

The Department strives to ensure that consultations and engagement activities are designed to be meaningful, trauma-informed, human-centred, and anti-oppressive by being inclusive, accessible and respectful to all.

In support of the Government of Canada’s commitment to renewing the relationship with Indigenous Peoples, departmental consultations and engagement activities take a Nation-to-Nation, Inuit-to-Crown and government-to-government between Canada and Indigenous Peoples approach based on recognition of rights, respect, cooperation, and partnership.
