Australia's Grace Kim opens 4-stroke lead in LPGA Tour's JM Eagle LA Championship

Grace Kim opened a four-stroke lead Friday in the LPGA Tour's JM Eagle LA Championship, shooting a 5-under 66 in tricky afternoon conditions at Wilshire Country Club. A stroke ahead after an opening 64, Kim had an eagle, four birdies and a bogey to get to 12-under 130. The 23-year-old Australian patiently worked her way around the tree-lined layup, trying not to get frustrated with the bumpy greens. Maja Stark was second after a 69, also in the afternoon. The Swede finished second last week in Texas in The Chevron Championship, two strokes behind top-ranked Nelly Korda in the first major of the year. Korda withdrew Monday, a day after a record-tying fifth straight victory.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and star forward Mohamed Salah have been involved in a touchline confrontation during the team's 2-2 draw with West Ham in the Premier League. Salah was a substitute for the game and was preparing to come on shortly after Michail Antonio's 77th-minute equalizer when Klopp went over to speak to him. Salah answered back with his arms outstretched then started to point at Klopp. Klopp was nodding while looking out onto the field. Darwin Nunez was also about to enter as a sub and he got in between Salah and Klopp before pushing away his teammate. Klopp refused to divulge the reason behind the spat.

Liverpool conceded Michail Antonio's late equalizer in a 2-2 draw with West Ham that further dented the Premier League title hopes of Jurgen Klopp's team. Liverpool is limping to the finish line in Klopp's final season in charge, recording just one win in its past five league games. Antonio's header in the 77th minute at London Stadium tied the game after Andy Robertson's goal made it 1-1 early in the second half and goalkeeper Alphonse Areola's own-goal put Liverpool ahead. The draw leaves Liverpool in third place. West Ham went into halftime with a 1-0 lead following Jarrod Bowen's header in the 43rd minute.

Minnesota hasn't made the second round of the NBA playoffs since 2004. Indiana hasn't gotten there since 2014. Dallas has gotten there once in the last 13 years. All took big steps toward changing that on Friday. The Timberwolves have a 3-0 lead on Phoenix after winning 126-109 behind 36 points from Anthony Edwards. Indiana survived a 42-point, flair-for-the-dramatic outbreak from Khris Middleton to beat Milwaukee 121-118 in overtime for a 2-1 series lead. And Dallas clamped down on defense to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 101-90, taking a 2-1 edge in that matchup.

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel says Jamal Musiala is unable to play against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday and that the Germany forward faces a race against time to be fit for Real Madrid in the Champions League. Bayern hosts Madrid for the first leg of their semifinal on Tuesday. Tuchel says Musiala "had to break off training yesterday. Now we're giving it all for Tuesday." Leroy Sané was also omitted from Bayern's squad. The coach again rotated the squad Saturday with Alphonso Davies, Kim Min-jae, Aleksandar Pavlović and Mathys Tel dropping to the substitutes' bench in place of Noussair Mazraoui, Konrad Laimer and Matthijs de Ligt.

Sinner downed fellow Italian Lorenzo Sonego 6-0, 6-3 in the second round to improve to 5-0 against his countryman. Swiatek likewise made quick work of Sorana Cirstea 6-1, 6-1 to reach the women's round of 16. Swiatek is preparing to make a run for a third straight title at the French Open next month. Brazilian qualifier Thiago Monteiro upset Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-4, 6-4 in the second round.

Kyle Schwarber homered on Joe Musgrove's fourth pitch and Bryce Harper also had one of the Philadelphia Phillies' five home runs in a 9-3 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday night. Musgrove (3-3) allowed a career-high four homers and didn't get out of the fourth. Aaron Nola (4-1) was brilliant in pitching eight innings for the second straight start. He struck out 10 for the first time this season and 31st time in his career, while holding San Diego to three runs and seven hits, with one walk. His only big mistake was allowing rookie Graham Pauley's two-run homer in the seventh, his second. Schwarber's shot was his 100th in a Phillies uniform.

The top 100 prospects have been scooped up by NFL teams through the first three rounds of the draft. But there's plenty of potential difference-makers sitting there Saturday when Round 4 begins. Arne Slot took a step closer to becoming Liverpool's manager after the Premier League club reportedly agreed to pay Feyenoord about 11 million euros ($11.7 million) in compensation. British and Dutch media reported the clubs reached a verbal agreement on the compensation package, clearing the way for the 45-year-old Slot to succeed Jurgen Klopp after this season. Klopp is leaving after a spell of more than eight years at Liverpool in which he has won a full set of trophies including the Premier League and Champions League. Neither club has commented. Slot had earlier confirmed his interest and expressed confidence in working out a contract with Liverpool.

Three-time PGA Tour winner Brendan Steele shot an 8-under 64 to take a one-stroke lead after two rounds of the LIV Tour's Adelaide tournament at The Grange Golf Club. The 41-year-old Steele's last PGA Tour victory came in 2017 when he won his second Safeway Open. He lost in a playoff to  Cameron Smith at the 2020 Sony Open in Hawaii. Steele had a 36-hole total of 14-under 130 Saturday. He had a stretch of four birdies, a bogey and two more birdies in the middle of his round. Danny Lee was a stroke behind after a 67, followed by Carlos Ortiz (68) and Mito Pereira (67) in a tie for third, two behind Steele.

Nathan MacKinnon and Valeri Nichushkin scored on the power play during a five-goal, third-period outburst and the Colorado Avalanche rallied for a 6-2 victory over the Winnipeg Jets in Game 3. Alexandar Georgiev stopped 22 shots to give the Avalanche a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Trailing 2-1 in the final period, Colorado, the highest-scoring team in the league, began pouring it on. The Avalanche scored four times in a 10:24 span to energize the crowd. Game 4 is Sunday in the Mile High City.

Anthony Edwards scored 36 points, Rudy Gobert added 19 points and 14 rebounds and the Minnesota Timberwolves used a hot-shooting third quarter to beat the Phoenix Suns 126-109 on Friday night and take a 3-0 lead in the first-round series. Minnesota goes for the sweep in Game 4 on Sunday in Phoenix. It was the third straight game the Wolves used a big third to turn a tight game into a comfortable victory. Minnesota hit 7 of 11 3-pointers during the surge, including four from Nickeil Alexander-Walker, to take a 22-point lead into the fourth. Bradley Beal led the Suns with 28 points while Kevin Durant had 25 and Devin Booker 23.

Winnipeg defenseman Brenden Dillon quickly made his way down the tunnel with his hand bleeding after a fight at the end of the game Friday night. Dillon suffered what appeared to be a deep cut following a 6-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3 of their first-round series. The Jets had no update after the game or if the injury happened because of a skate blade. The fight started soon after the horn and involved several players. There was blood on the back of the Avalanche forward Brandon Duhaime's jersey and on the ice near the goal.

Bailey Ober took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, Carlos Santana homered and the Minnesota Twins extended their winning streak to five games, beating the Los Angeles Angels 5-3 on Friday night. Santana drove in two runs, while Byron Buxton, Ryan Jeffers and Willi Castro each had an RBI to help the Twins won the opener of a three-game series and a six-game trip. Ober (2-1) was charged with two runs on three hits over 7 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts, Left-hander Caleb Thielbar got the final out for his first save of the season and the second of his career. Patrick Sandoval (1-4) was the loser. The Angels lost for the seventh time in their last eight games

Patrick Bailey hit a walk-off three-run homer and the San Francisco Giants beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 3-0 on Friday. The game was scoreless until the ninth, when Michael Conforto walked and Matt Chapman singled to begin the inning off Pirates reliever David Bednar. Bailey then drilled a homer to right field. Both starters, San Francisco's Kyle Harrison, and Pittsburgh's Quinn Priester, each pitched six innings. Harrison struck out seven and gave up five hits.
