🌍 Drought in #Ethiopia has devastated pastoralist communities, impacting the #foodsecurity of millions of people. 🐄 To explore the potential of digital tools and climate services, we gathered stakeholders at the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) to explore the relationship between humans, rangeland and #livestock. Explore the outcomes!👇 https://lnkd.in/eGivHTVC

How well do we really know our food? The answer is: not as well as we should. That’s why The Rockefeller Foundation is thrilled to support the The Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI) and their mission to build the world's most in-depth global commons on food quality. For the first time in history, advanced data, tools, and training resources will be accessible to a global ecosystem of partners to help map the full biomolecular composition of the planet’s edible biodiversity. This effort can help transform food systems and alleviate society’s most pressing issues, including diet-related diseases, biodiversity loss, climate change, and malnutrition. You can read more about PTFI’s announcement and their research funding opportunities in my latest Reimagine The Future newsletter.

How do you know which foods are better for diet-triggered diseases? The The Periodic Table of Food Initiative (PTFI) that we're spearheading and collaborating with Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, American Heart Association, and Food Tank is working to fill the gaps in nutritional knowledge by uncovering the biomolecular composition of foods. This biomolecular data will be vital in understanding how the foods we eat can impact our health, and how climate change impacts the available nutrition in some crops.
