Senior Content Writer @ Buffer | Content Strategy + Social Media Guidance

The recipe for social media success changes *constantly*. But there is one thing that works every. single. time. Consistency. I worked in social media for my entire career. I've grown brand accounts and my own. I'm now at a collective 11k followers which would put me in the nano (pico? femto?) influencer category. The only part of my strategy that has worked with every growth push is being active on the platform in question. Daily. Creating content consistently. It makes sense. No matter what platform you're on — LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube — they want you to be active there. To be creating value. So the platforms reward that behavior. Great! But... Easier said than done, right? Being active on your platform of choice every darn day is hard. Which is why my brilliant colleague Tamilore O. has started Creator Camp — a 30-day challenge to help you build the habit (and your following). It's completely free to join, and a bunch of us at Buffer will be doing it with you. You'll get daily prompts, guidance from experts, and, most importantly, a sense of community and accountability. So: who wants to join us? The challenge starts on May 6th (Monday!) and we're already having loads of fun in Discord (which you can join via the link in my comments). Come join us. 😊

Buffer is a fully remote company, but we don’t do asynchronous work first. We do async work, but we focus on synchronous work. First, what is async work? Async work is when you’re working on something and you don’t expect an immediate response from someone in that moment. This could be you working in a shared doc or making a video while you’re working for your teammate to see when they’re online later. A couple reasons why we don’t do async first: -We’ve seen that synchronous works helps with moving projects faster or helping with complex problems. If something comes up, it’s much easier to hash it out in a Zoom call. -As a remote team, we’re not seeing each other in person, so we feel like video calls help with creating face-to-face connections. Ultimately, our philosophy is to be flexible. We like to say “give flexibility to get flexibility.” This flexibility could mean joining a meeting at an awkward time because our teammates are in different timezones. On the other side, we have the flexibility to make our own schedule. If we want to work outside of traditional hours, or if we have something come up where we need to step away from the computer, that’s totally fine as well. We’re not expecting our teammates to be available at all hours of the day just because we focus on synchronous work first. We feel like we’ve found a really good balance between our async and sync work. How does your team handle async and sync communication? #remotework

A heads up for social media marketers and community managers! You might have spotted the news that Meta have recently shut down their Facebook Groups API. The good news is that Buffer we still support scheduling to Facebook Groups. Instead of posting automatically on your behalf, we’ll send you a notification when it’s time to post. The other good news is you now have more flexibility with what you can schedule. For example, you can schedule a Poll or an Event. You can also publish posts from non-admin accounts. ✨ Learn more about how it works here:

Whether you’re neurodivergent or not, AI can be an amazing tool for supporting your brain as an entrepreneur. Here are some of the specific practices and prompts Ariana Rodriguez uses with ChatGPT to support her ADHD ⬇️ 💬 AI helps identify steps forward and prioritize ideas Ariana asks ChatGPT to help her map out a plan on any new ideas. For example, she’ll give ChatGPT details about what she’s thinking and ask it to help come up with a project plan. It will tell her exactly what needs to happen, from curriculum creation to marketing to the tech they’ll need. It’s important to note that Ariana typically doesn’t take these exact plans and run with them. But having a draft plan helps identify initial steps and reduces the amount of time it takes to get started. 💬 Have ChatGPT ask questions to unlock the answers in your brain Ariana’s biggest business hack with ChatGPT has been having it ask her questions to help think through challenges more deeply. For example, perhaps she’ll outline the marketing strategy for an upcoming launch, and then prompt it by asking: “What questions do you need me to answer to help me improve upon this strategy?” This can help her identify aspects she may be missing. 💬 ChatGPT helps verbally process without taking up any teammate’s time Ariana will say something like: “This is the problem that we’re having right now—let’s have a conversation to solve it.” She’ll have ChatGPT ask her questions, and it will often ask her dozens of (very good!) questions at a time. Instead of typing out her answers, she’ll open up a transcription software like Otter.ai and record herself responding to all the questions. Then, she’ll grab the transcript, paste it back into ChatGPT, and say, “Here’s the information you requested. What’s next? What other information do you need to help me solve this?” Learn more from Ariana on how she uses AI to support her work as a business owner with ADHD: https://lnkd.in/gE56TG9U

Organic vs paid social media: which one should you focus on? Businesses often grapple with which to focus on, but that mindset ignores the value of using both organic and paid social media to enhance your marketing success. Both approaches require different methods but will be equally effective. Organic social ➡️ Involves creating and sharing content that resonates with your target audience, fostering genuine engagement, and building a loyal community around your brand. Paid social ➡️ Allows you to target specific demographics, expand your reach beyond your existing followers, and drive more immediate results through strategic ad placements. In our article, we explore the unique characteristics of organic and paid social media, how they complement each other, and why incorporating both into your social media strategy is essential for achieving your business goals:
