Though we've made incredible strides in medicine, there is always more to do to ensure that every child is able to live their best possible life. As one of the leading research institutes in the world for children, many of these advances have happened here at Cincinnati Children's—including Dr. Albert Sabin’s oral polio vaccine, which was given to thousands of Greater Cincinnati children on April 24, 1960. From the polio virus vaccine, the rotavirus vaccine, and ongoing work on the RSV and COVID vaccines, to the development of the first heart-lung machine for children, the discovery of surfactant, and many others, hundreds of thousands of people around the world have been saved because of investments in research - right here in Cincinnati. #WeAreCincyKids #pediatrichealth #research
