Happy #EarthDay! The combination of EARTH + DATA is very rich. There are many great data sources to find online about our planet - its land, oceans, forests, atmosphere, biosphere, and life forms. Which are your favorites? Share in the comments below! As a person who grew up in Southern California and who now lives in a county (Riverside) that the infamous San Andreas fault line runs through, I found this data set provided by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) to be relevant and interesting: https://lnkd.in/gNhWnMPC I used the data set and Datawrapper to create this symbol map of more than 14,000 recorded instances of worldwide earthquakes of 6.0 magnitude or greater since 1900. You can see the tectonic plates right away, can't you? Did you know that plate tectonics wasn't fully defined or widely accepted until the late 1960s? Hard to miss it using this data, wouldn't you say? I hope you get a chance to spend some time outside today enjoying mother nature! And stay safe.

New @datawrapper feature: Option for cropped views for choropleth maps. Why this feature? Sometimes, just a part of a map is populated with data or only a specific part (for example, the number of hospitals in the north of Germany, etc.) Blog posts how this works: https://lnkd.in/ebRmbqBa

🎉 🎉 🎉 New: Crop the view of your choropleth and symbol maps! Does your data cover only a small region of the basemap — just the eastern United States, or just the northern districts of Berlin? You can now crop your choropleth and symbol maps, so readers will focus on just what you want to show them. An inset map in the corner keeps the big picture in view 🖼️ Read the full announcement on our blog: https://buff.ly/3TUljE3
