Another great Higher Learning Commission conference in the books. Congratulations Barbara Gellman-Danley and team. I am so proud of the work we are doing to make education accessible to those who need it most and our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. So much great information. Key takeaways from this year’s conference: 1. “Presidents cannot save what we the people let decay.” Eric Liu 2. Higher Ed is not just about education, but making good citizens. 3. We need to move away from looking at student success outcomes based on completion and retention and focus more on competency based education. How do we create income earning pathways while earning a degree? 4. Work based learning significantly increases earning potential 5. We may have lost a generation of low income students with the FAFSA situation. 6. Education needs to move at the speed of business.

What’s better than getting in a room with other highly motivated faculty and leaders in higher education talking about fostering remote faculty engagement? Just wrapped up a great few days in Chicago at the Higher Learning Commission conference in Chicago. GCU had great representation as presenters and attendees. My first time attending and presenting at the Higher Learning Commission conference was fantastic! Heath A. Howard, Ph.D. and I enjoyed talking with colleagues in the industry this morning about the importance of SEM and Data Science. Enjoyed great dinners and cocktails with Susan Rodriguez at The Evie, Sweetwater Tavern, and Sienna Tavern. Wrapping up my time here at the Higher Learning Commission conference. It was so good to see friendly faces, and feel motivated after listening to presentations by Daniel Susskind on the future of education, and then Anthony Jack on the privileged poor. Thrilled I was able to meet them both and get books autographed. Looking forward to taking these messages back to my college and continuing the work.

I want to congratulate the remarkable Higher Learning Commission staff on a great conference. Our attendees were so full of energy that it will carry us in good spirit for a long time.
