Yesterday, ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) released their 2023 Audit of Antisemitic Incidents, reporting the worst year for antisemitic incidents since ADL began recording them more than four decades ago. Below are some of the findings. As a reminder, ADL will be holding a special Insider Briefing on Rising Antisemitism in the U.S. for national and federal law enforcement partners this Thursday, April 18 from 2:00-2:45pm Eastern/11:00-11:45am Pacific, where they will discuss the major findings in the report. Register here: https://lnkd.in/ehBGyrBu There was a total of 8,873 incidents reported across the United States in 2023 – an increase of 140 percent compared to 2022, which was also a record setting year. That includes: 161 violent assaults (a 45% increase and a 164% increase since 2019), 6,535 incidents of harassment (a 184% increase), 2,177 incidents of vandalism (a 69% increase), and 922 of these incidents took place on college and university campuses (a 321% increase) This is an average of 24 incidents per day, or one per hour. (In 2022, ADL recorded an average of 10 incidents per day.) This year saw a dramatic spike in antisemitic bomb threats - 1,009 - a massive increase (+1,008%) over the 91 bomb threats recorded in 2022. Following Hamas’s October 7th terrorist attack on Israel and the resulting war, antisemitic incidents skyrocketed to a level unprecedented in the history of ADL’s tracking of antisemitism. Between October 7 and the end of the year, ADL tabulated 5,204 incidents, more in that quarter than in any other total year on record.   The complete dataset for antisemitic incidents for 2016-2023 is available on ADL’s H.E.A.T. Map, an interactive online tool that allows users to geographically chart antisemitic incidents and extremist activity. Click here to view: https://lnkd.in/gNtNeWFE Anti-Defamation League

  • SHERIFFS CALL FOR LESS TALK MORE ACTION TO SECURE THE BORDER AFTER THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS March 8, 2024 – (Alexandria, V.A.) – The National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) President Sheriff Greg Champagne, (St. Charles Parish, L.A.) released the following statement in response to the President’s State of the Union Address. Last night President Briden failed to recognize the men and women in law enforcement who protect our communities and their need for more resources to fight crime. We need more deputies not fewer. We need a greater commitment to the rule of law. The President repeated the recent refrain that he cannot do anything to secure the border until Congress acts on the current proposed legislation. However, this legislation would only enshrine into law that we could continue to admit 5000 migrants per day, and an unlimited number of minors. Upon taking office in 2021, the President apparently felt different about executive action regarding the border when he signed 7 such Executive Orders cancelling actions by his predecessor in the first few hours. These actions, in addition to other failures to act, have turned a secured border into a disaster in just over three years making all Americans less safe and allowing the Mexican Cartels free rein. According to the law, and corroborated by the non-partisan Congressional Research Service, there are several actions which can and have been taken by prior presidents, both Democrat and Republican, which would help in securing the border.
