Say hello to Devon! As director of the Dana Foundation’s Frontiers Program, Devon collaborates with the vice president of Neuroscience & Society and other Foundation staff to develop and implement the Foundation’s grantmaking strategy around multidirectional community engagement with neuroscience. Originally from the Midwest, Devon was born and raised in Indianapolis before making his way to Chicago and, ultimately, New York. Outside of work, he enjoys container gardening, strength training, “taking in a nerdy comedy show,” and playing D&D with friends.

Thank you to NPR and WBEZ Chicago for the invitation to speak about the Dana Center Initiative, with a special focus on the neuroscience and society education for middle and high schoolers in Chicago led by M William Rochlin and his excellent team at Loyola University Chicago. At the Dana Foundation, we believe that introducing ethical implications associated with neuroscience will inspire a deeper interest in STEM among these students, supporting the development of a science identity linked to understanding the societal impact of neuroscience research. The Dana Foundation has partnered with Loyola University Chicago to launch a Dana Program, a student-focused, interdisciplinary “train the trainers” approach to neuroeducation in the Chicagoland community. The program aims to inspire future generations of neuroscientists by developing STEM interest among middle and high school students, providing community micro-grants, and hosting challenges in arts, business, and journalism to explore linkages between neuroscience and the community.
