Latest from me: My first 24 hours with the rabbit inc. R1 has been strangely familiar, but still exciting. The hardware is playful, fun, and the ultimate conversation starter. (The security guard at work even stopped me to ask about it.) It can answer multiple questions in succession, which Siri or Google Assistant can't do -- not yet. And its multimodal vision feature is a big win for accessibility. But just about everything else with the R1 needs refining, from the battery life to the wonky translations to the inability to book an Uber or order my favorite foods from my favorite restaurants. All of that can be patched up in the future, and more capabilities are expected to arrive soon, but what gives me pause is how real customers, more than ever with AI hardware, have to pay for unfinished products, hoping that their investments will be worth it over time. More on ZDNET.
