The Office of the Vice President (OVP) is a constitutional office established under Article 110 (1) of the Constitution of Zambia Act No. 1 of 2016 which states that “There shall be a Vice President of the Republic of Zambia.”
The Office derives its statutory functions published in Government Gazette Notice No. 1123 of 2021, namely:
Disaster Management and Drought Mitigation;
Honours and Awards;
National Values, Principles and Ethics;
National Guidance;
Parliamentary Business; and
Resettlement.
The Office also oversees the multi-sectoral response to Food and Nutrition as provided through the Act. No. 3 of 2020.
