The Witcher 3 mods bring Henry Cavill and ‘Toss a Coin’ to life in the game

There’s never been a better time to get back into the game

Owen S. Good is a longtime veteran of video games writing, well known for his coverage of sports and racing games.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has sustained a very strong followership over the five years since its 2015 launch. Even so. its number of players — on PC, according to SteamCharts — has surged fourfold since Netflix launched its adaptation of the novels. And with mods bringing actors Henry Cavill and Anya Cholatra into the game, plus the show’s hit song, there’s never been a better time to go back

Meshes and character models of Cavill’s Geralt have been around since mid-August, about a year after Netflix announced that Cavill would play the lead character (and after his appearance at San Diego Comic-Con 2019 to promote the show). But they have since gotten several updates and adjustments over the past four days. Adnan4444 on Nexus Mods got the ball rolling with these meshes back in August; Shadowphonic has since adapted Adnan’s work (crediting it as an “absolutely stunning” effort), giving Cavi— er, Geralt a paler complexion and a more distinct scar.

Cavill is joined by Chalotra, who portrays Yennefer of Vengerberg. Her mesh is available with Adnan4444’s original mod. But wait, there’s more; modder hub997 put together a cutscene mod with the catchy tune “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher,” that the balladeer Jaskier/Dandelion sings at the end of episode two. Check it out.

As a perfectionist fan obsessed with doing things “the right way,” which means having every detail in place and perfectly choosing every conversation option or role-playing decision, even if it means restarting after hundreds of hours, I heartily endorse getting started on another playthrough with these mods.
