Elliot is Holby's greatest Hope.
PICK OF THE DAY HOLBY CITY (BBC1, 8pm) ATERRIBLE contagious disease threatens the staff and patients at Holby General Hospital this week when two critically ill patients arrive from Pakistan.
Elliot is a bit thrown to say the least when Brigitte, an old friend from med school, rocks up with Ayesha and Zayn, who have multi-drug resistant tuberculosis.
Hanssen tells Elliot it's up to him whether Darwin ward can shoulder the burden, but just as Elliot is weighing up the dilemma, one of the patients goes into arrest and his decision is made.
"You're the one who's going to cure us?" asks the other patient. As the staff quickly reach for their face masks, it seems the pressure is on.
"But whole villages have been virtually wiped out by this disease!" says Morven, rather too loudly as Serena tries to maintain calm in the hospital.
Elliot and Brigitte come to blows later on when she invites the press to the hospital to publicise the case, arguing that it's necessary to raise money to fund her work.
And there are harsh words exchanged when Elliot says it's "pointless showmanship" and "exploitation". In fact, the pair spend most of the episode fighting and then making up again.
Meanwhile, Morven is delighted when Serena takes an interest in her education and assigns her to a case without Arthur. But she ends up in a complete panic about making a diagnosis on her own.
Plus she seems to have a knack for accidentally blurting out completely inappropriate and heartless facts to her patients.
And elsewhere, after Essie tells Sacha that she really does want a baby, he suddenly finds himself rather busy and unavailable. Time for a heart to heart - but do they really want the same things?
