Spurs fans chant 'Yid' 40 minutes before Cardiff match despite FA warning.

London, Sept 23 ( ANI ): Defiant Tottenham Hotspur supporters ignored the FA's demand to stop using the word Yid as they stood up for the whole game at Cardiff City, and chanted the term.

According to the Mirror, around 40 minutes before the 4pm kick-off, 'we're Tottenham Hotspur, we'll sing what we want', resounded around the stadium, followed by 'Yid Army' and later 'Yids, Yids, Yids'.

Most stood up for the whole game as they bellowed the songs, the report said.

The row blew up after the FA said earlier this month that the FA considered that the use of the term Yid is likely to be considered offensive by the reasonable observer and that it considered the term inappropriate in a football setting.

A fan said that he was Jewish and remembers how he was attacked in the 1967 FA Cup Final for being a 'Yid'.

Another supporter said that the word is used in the right context and entirely used in a positive manner, adding that there was no problem with it. ( ANI )
