The project is titled 'Poet | Artist.'

A month after the loss of Jonghyun of Korean boy band SHINee, the band's label SM Entertainment announced it will release his last-completed album posthumously.

Poet | Artist was created in the last few months before Jonghyun’s death. The album and a music video will be released on Jan. 23. Proceeds will go to the K-pop singer’s mother and put to the establishment of a foundation to help those who are living in difficult circumstances, according to a statement published by SM Entertainment on Friday.

“Jonghyun loved music more than anyone, and he tried to communicate through that music. We hope that his feelings will he relayed to everyone through this album,” read the statement.

The artist died at the age of 27 on Dec. 18 by suicide. He was on the verge of his tenth anniversary in the Korean music industry as a member of one K-pop’s most emblematic acts.

Over the past decade, Jonghyun had become known as one of the Korean music world’s most talented young vocalists, and was a popular burgeoning singer-songwriter who pursued both a solo career and was dedicatedly involved in SHINee’s musicality. His death has firmly shaken the K-pop world, also opening up discussions revolving around raising mental health awareness in South Korea.

The album will be released a month before SHINee resumes activities with the start of their upcoming tour in Japan. The surviving four members of the band addressed fans publicly for the first time last week, penning handwritten letters to their dedicated fan army ShaWol (SHINee World) and all those who have supported the group in the days following Jonghyun’s death.
