Kang Nam-kil Spokesman for "Stop Smoking" Campaign

The Ministry of Health and Welfare selected actor Kang Nam-kil as the official spokesperson for the 'Quit Smoking' campaign Wednesday.
Kang smoked for 22 years and could not quit smoking despite suffering from angina. However, appearing on a TV program in November, Kang stated he is more determined than ever to quit smoking and he appealed to viewers to also butt out. Kang's looks and friendly manner were part of the reason the Ministry of Health and Welfare entrusted him as its emissary.
Kang plans to be the point man for the Health Expo 2000 and World No Smoking Day on May 31. He will also chart his own progress through his homepage, (http://members.iWorld.net/knari/).
The ministry had already chosen singer Yoo Seung-joon as a delegate for the World No Smoking Day earlier this year.
