Singer-actor Lee Gi-kwang, a member of the boy band Beast, will appear in the new SBS drama “Mrs. Cop,” according to a source from the channel, who mentioned that the entertainer recently took part in a script reading.

News regarding Lee’s participation in “Mrs. Cop” went viral online after photos of the actor and other celebrities participating in the upcoming drama were posted on various websites.

Lee will return to TV as the youngest detective within a police investigation team, led by actress Kim Hee-ae, who will play a senior detective.

The new drama is the 25-year-old’s first television project since “Twenty,” which consisted of four episodes and aired in January 2014.

The show is a follow-up to the 16-episode series “High Society,” which began airing June 8.

Since his breakout in 2009 with the boy band Beast, Lee has taken on a number of independent projects.

He first appeared in “High Kick Through the Roof” in 2009, followed by appearances in “My Princess” (2011) and “Me Too, Flower!” (2011).

Lee has also hosted various reality TV programs, including “Hot Brothers” (2010-11) and the music program “Inkigayo” in 2011.
