Actor Cha Tae-hyun is likely to star in an upcoming rom-com film later this year that is being produced by his older brother's production company, according to local reports Wednesday.

"Because I Love You" (literal translation), which is still in the casting stage, is being produced by AD406, which is headed by Cha's brother Cha Ji-hyeon.

It will be the brothers' first film collaboration in three years, following the 2012 historical comedy film "The Grant Heist," which starred the younger Cha in the male lead.

"Because I Love You" will be directed by Ju Ji-hong, who previously directed the 2009 film "Maybe," which also starred Cha in a supporting role.

Cha will reprise his popular comedic role in the upcoming film, which is a part-fantasy film about "losers' romance."

Cha will star in the highly anticipated TV series "Producer," which is starting in May. The drama stars Kim Soo-hyun and Gong Hyo-jin in the lead roles.
