Actor Park Hae-jin said on the JTBC talk show “Nonsummit” that his house is full of unworn shoes which bring him a sense of comfort.

Park was a guest in Monday’s episode of the show. He said that he owns some 1,800 pairs of sneakers at home, with all of them brand new. His large collection of footwear has been stacked from his shoe shelf, to his room and living room.

Others on the show remarked that such behavior is “not ordinary,” but Park said he felt “consoled” by his large collection.

“When I was young, I could not afford a pair of shoes,” Park said. “I envied a classmate with second-tier Nike Jordan shoes.”

As his career developed, he could afford more shoes. One pair led to another, leading to his current massive collection.

“Nonsummit” features guests who hold discussions with a panel made up of expatriates who can speak Koreans. It airs on Mondays at 11 p.m.
