Actor Gong Yoo will star opposite Jung Yu-mi in a feminist film titled “Kim Ji-young, Born in 1982.”

This film will be the third to feature the two as co-stars, following the megahits “Train to Busan” and “Silenced,” both of which met with critical acclaim and great commercial success.

Gong will play the husband of the main character, Kim Ji-young, who suffers from a personality disorder and needs empathy.

The film is based on the 2016 South Korean novel of the same title, which has sold over a million copies and garnered critical praise for shedding light on issues facing women in Korean society.

The book regained attention recently after the #MeToo movement swept the country, with feminism becoming a subject of heated debate.

The production for the film, directed by Kim Do-young, will begin sometime early next year.
