The bus collided with a group of pedestrians and a car at Ingoldmells near Skegness in Lincolnshire.

The child, aged about four, together with a woman, died at the scene of the crash in Sea Lane, near the Fantasy Island theme park, just after 1700 BST.

The third victim, a man, was trapped under the bus and also found dead, according to Lincolnshire Police.

A second man who was also trapped was "very seriously injured" and was taken to Pilgrim Hospital in Boston.

A woman and a baby were also taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.

The woman later died and the baby was transferred to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham for further treatment.

Lincolnshire Police said the deceased's next of kin were being identified.

Ch Supt Phil Carter told the BBC the coach had mounted the pavement, and then veered back onto the road where it had collided with a number of people.

He added: "Two people were trapped underneath the bus.

"We have spoken to about 40 witnesses. But clearly, there are other people who we haven't yet spoken to, and we would ask them to come forward."

The driver of the bus, which is owned and run by Lincolnshire RoadCar Ltd, is being interviewed about the crash.

No one from the company was available for comment on Sunday night.

The bus was thought to be on a regular service between Chapel St Leonards and Ingoldmells and the collision happened outside a car park near to the Fantasy Island theme park.

A representative of the theme park said it had still been open at the time of the crash.

"We were very, very busy with thousands of people. The area around the accident has been closed and barriered off."

A casualty bureau has been set up by police for anyone worried about a relative or friends, or who saw the incident.
