Two hundred sailors have been on parade through the streets of London in ceremonial uniform to celebrate being granted the freedom of the city.

The crew of HMS Westminster were given the honour for their support of Westminster schools and charities.

The Freedom of the City is one of the oldest civic awards in existence.

It is granted very sparingly and has only been awarded six times since Winston Churchill received the accolade in 1946.

The sailors made their way from Westminster Abbey to Whitehall and into Horse Guards Parade on Sunday morning.
