Carter seals Huangshan Cup title

Carter was beaten 18-8 by O'Sullivan in the Crucible final

Ali Carter claimed only the second professional title of his 12-year career with a 5-3 win over Marco Fu in the Huangshan Cup in Hefei, China.

The 28-year-old, who lost in the recent World Championship final to Ronnie O'Sullivan, was a last minute invitee at the event after O'Sullivan withdrew.

Carter took a 2-0 lead but Fu's total clearance of 139 levelled it at 3-3.

However, Carter moved up to a career high seventh in the world rankings after securing the final two frames.

It is Carter's first tournament success since he won the qualifying event for the 2000 Wembley Masters.

China's number one Ding Junhui, beaten 5-3 in the semi-finals by Carter, has donated his £10,000 prize money to the disaster fund set up for victims of the Sichuan earthquake.
