1991: Parrott finally gets reward
John Parrott produced one of the finest sessions ever seen at the Crucible in claiming a 7-0 lead over Jimmy White in the final, a margin that remained as Parrott claimed an 18-11 victory.

White had reduced the lead to 7-11 but could not get any nearer as the Liverpudlian exorcised the ghosts of his heavy defeat in the 1989 final.

Parrott had hammered Tony Knowles 13-1 in the second round and his confidence was boosted further by a 16-10 win over Steve Davis in the semi-finals.

Stephen Hendry's title defence came to an end in the quarter-finals when he was beaten 13-11 by Steve James, who won four successive frames from 9-11.

In the first round, Gary Wilkinson, a 10-2 winner over Doug Mountjoy, potted 15 reds, 15 blacks but missed a straightforward yellow in pursuing a 147 attempt which would have been worth 100,000.
