Commonwealth Games 2010: India dominate shooting medals

India's success at the shooting range continued as Vijay Kumar and Gurpreet Singh took gold in the 25m rapid fire pistol pairs at the Commonwealth Games.

Gurpreet then went on to win the 10m air pistol pairs with Omkar Singh.

India, who have won seven shooting golds, also took the silver in the men's double trap through Ronjan Sodhi, England's Stevan Walton winning gold.

Australian Alethea Sedgman, 16, won the women's 50m rifle three position at the Dr Karni Singh shooting range in Delhi.

In the 25m rapid fire pistol pairs, Vijay Kumar and Gurpreet scored 1162 out of 1200 to create a new Games record. Malaysia took silver with 1144 points and Australia the bronze with 1125 points.

In the 10m air pistol pairs, Omkar and Gurpreet secured victory with an impressive 1163 points.

England's Nick Baxter and Micahel Gault secured the silver with 1143 points while Bin Gai and Swee Hon Lim from Singapore scored 1139 points to take the bronze.

Australia's sixteen-year-old Sedgman was a surprise winner of the women's 50m rifle three position.

India was expected to do well in this event but Tejaswini Sawant failed to qualify and Lajja Kumar Gauswami could only manage sixth place.

Sedgman snatched gold with 676 points while Singapore's Xiang Wei and Aqilah Sudhir took silver and bronze, scoring 672 and 671 points respectively.

India also narrowly missed out in the men's double trap, which was won by England's Walton.

Ronjan Sodhi of India won silver after winning a shoot out against his compatriot Asher Noria and the Isle of Man's Timothy Kneale, who took bronze.
