Hendry was in unstoppable form as The Crucible
|
Stephen Hendry sent out a warning to his title rivals after reaching the quarter-finals with a 13-3 thrashing of world number 25 Anthony Hamilton. Hendry was at his ruthless best as he won with a session to spare, taking seven of the eight frames.
Hamilton wasted chances when in among the balls and had no answer as Hendry made a series of clinical frame-winning breaks, including a 63 and a 71.
The 14th frame went to Hamilton, but a 75 in the last ensured an early finish.
Hendry said he had plenty of room for improvement despite the emphatic result.
"I felt good in patches and I potted a lot more long balls than in my first match," said Hendry.
"But when the score starts to go 9-2 or 10-2 it's very difficult to stay as focussed as you were at the start of the session.
"It gives me time get back to the way I was cueing before Sheffield. I'll find more form when I'm pushed."
