Age of Steam Memorial

Preserving the steam era for future generations.

ICRR Engine #2500 lit up for the holidays in Fairview Park, Centralia, IL.

Home

Welcome to our website, where the steam era of railroading is preserved and promoted by railfans like you.  Our main attraction is the Illinois Central Railroad 2500 steam engine,  which is kept on permanent display in Fairview Park, Centralia, Illinois.

We are a small but dedicated team of volunteers who have looked after the 2500 ever since she was saved from the scrap heap in 1962.  We’ve provided many tours, answered many questions, and shared many stories with fellow steam enthusiasts over the years, and we’d be happy to hear from you as well.

As you can imagine, keeping a steam locomotive in good shape is no easy task, so any form of help is welcome!  If you’d like to volunteer or contribute, please let us know.  You can visit the Contact Us page to send us a message.

Otherwise, please enjoy the 2500 history and photos.  It’s a fascinating story.
