Han Hye-jin, Song Chang-eui, Park Geon-hyeong cast in medical series

Actors Han Hye-jin, Song Chang-eui and Park Geon-hyeong have been cast in a medical drama set to premiere in February.

A press release by general programming channel JTBC said on Tuesday that the three actors will play doctors of a hospital's neurosurgery department in the series tentatively titled "Syndrome." Han and Song will be residents and Park the chief resident in the project set to be produced on a budget of three billion won, the statement explained.

"Syndrome" is set to show starting February 13 when current 20-part series "Padam Padam," starring Jung Woo-sung, Han Ji-min and Kim Beom, ends its run.

Han, 30, has appeared in a number of movies and TV series since her acting debut in 2002. She gained a strong fan base in Japan after dramas "Jumong," "Be Strong, Geum Soon!" "Terroir" and "Jejungwon" were aired in the country. Song, 32, debuted in 2002 through musical "Blue Saigon" but has appeared in several dramas and movies after shooting to stardom through TV series "Golden Bride" (SBS, 2007).

The upcoming drama will be the first time in two years, since SBS' 2010 series "Life is Beautiful," that he takes on the role of a doctor.

Park, 33, has starred in films “Mr. Wacky” (2006) and “Riverbank Legends” (2006) and TV series “When Spring Comes,” (KBS, 2007) and “The Land of Wind” (KBS, 2008) among other shows.

Having turned his focus to musical the past few years, it will be the first time in three years that he will appear on the small screen.
