“The Thieves” stars Lee Jung-jae, Kim Hye-soo join Song Kang-ho’s 1st historical film

Korean actor Song Kang-ho’s first historical film has now filled its casting boat with big name stars including “The Thieves” actors Lee Jung-jae and Kim Hye-soo.

“Read Your Face” [working title] has finalized its main cast members and is getting things to ready to go into shooting next month, according to the movie’s distribution company Showbox’s press release Tuesday. Set in the Joseon Dynasty, Lee will depict General Su-yang who follows physionomists' order to control the country while Kim turns into a Korean geisha named Yeon-hong who brings the talented physiognomist Nae-kyung [played by Song] to town and places him at the center of story.

In addition to the three ten-million-audience big names, two rookie stars Jo Jeong-seok of “Architecture 101” (2012) and Lee Jong-seok of “R2B: Return to Base” (2012) have taken the pic's supporting roles each as Nae-kyung’s assistant and Nae-kyung’s son.

Veteran actor Baek Yoon-sik of historic comedy pic “I Am The King” (2012) and "The Taste of Money" (2012) will also make his second cinematic appearance as a historical figure, Kim Jong-seo. Helmed by accredited director Han Jae-rim of "The Show Must Go On" (2007) and “Rules of Dating” (2005), the star-studded film has been garnering attention from film professionals and moviegoers due to its well-plotted script.

The script was awarded by the Korean Film Council back in 2010.

Set to begin shooting next month, the anticipated feature will open in local theaters next year.
