Schoolboy Yuan Sijun, 15, stuns world No.13 Martin Gould at China Open

Martin Gould is heading home from the China Open in Beijing after being thrashed by 15-year-old amateur Yuan Sijun in the first round.

Gould, ranked 13th in the world, went down 5-0 to wildcard Yuan, who racked up breaks of 51, 102 and 55 to set up a meeting with former world champion Graeme Dott.

"I felt good in general and my opponent left chances for me, so I managed to make some decent breaks," Yuan, who beat Andrew Higginson 5-3 in Monday's qualifier, told the World Snooker website.

"My coach told me that I needed to work on clearing the colours and long potting and I think it worked.

"My parents are not with me here because their presence would have made me nervous, which has happened before. Two wins in a row is a breakthrough for me."

Yuan joins the likes of Judd Trump, Marco Fu, and reigning world champion Stuart Bingham in the second round.
