SEOUL — Poetry, a film by helmer Lee Chang-dong, won the Best Picture at the 47th Grand Bell Award held Friday evening in Seoul, also picking up trophies for Best Actress, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor.
Actress Yoon Jeong-hee, who played an amateur poet suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease, won her second Best Actress award with Poetry since being awarded for the same section in 1994 with war film Manmubang.
Kang Woo-seok won Best Director with his thriller Moss based on an Internet comic, along with Best Photography, Best Sound and Best Art Direction.
Won Bin, an Asian heartthrob from an action thriller The Man from Nowhere (Ajeossi) won the Best Actor. The Best Supporting Actress went to Yoon Yeo-jeong from The Housemaid, the remake of the 1960s classic by Kim Ki-young.
Separately, Choi Eun-hee, a veteran actress who was abducted to North Korea and escaped with her late filmmaker husband Shin Sang-ok, received an award commemorating her achievements in Korean cinema.
The Grand Bell Prize is the Korean equivalent of the Academy Awards, and dating back to 1962.
