'Fight My Way' has been very well received, thanks to its simple and relatable storyline of two friends from humble backgrounds and their struggles to wade through life. Fans are also in love with sweet chemistry between leads Park Seo-joon and Kim Ji-won. Now, Se-joon has revealed that his life was very similar to that of his character in the drama.

As noted by website Soompi, on June 13, actor Park Seo-joon during a press meeting, talked about his character Go Dong-man in 'Fight My Way' and why he is so relatable to a lot of people. "I end up thinking a lot about my past self as I act as Go Dong-man," the actor said. He also revealed that in his very early days as an actor, he himself lived in a small 285 aq. Ft (approximately) studio apartment, like his character. He thus feels very nostalgic when he's at the sets of Dong-man's apartment.

Go Dong-man is described as a former taekwondo martial artist who used to be a big name in the ring but due to some unfortunate circumstances had to give it all up until now. As per the latest episodes, Go Dong-man has been trying hard to chase his dream once again and improve his life. Park Seo-joon said that one line by Dong-man in episode 4 more or less summarises the message of 'Fight My Way' and that is Dong-man saying, "Even if I don't succeed, I'm going to just go for it!"

Seo-joon added that like his character, he was initially naive about the world but learned the hard way. "When I was discharged from the army, I also thought that 'things will work out exactly how I want them to.' But when I faced reality, I saw the world keeps spinning even if I have nothing. I realised that I am just like a speck of dust in comparison to the world," he said adding, "So, there may be those who saw Dong Man's sudden outburst as just humour, but I strongly tried to portray that line so that it could be impactful to those with big dreams."

The 'Hwarang' actor also said he aims to play his characters in a grounded and realistic manner and also adjust his performances according to the reception of the audiences.

Episode 9 and 10 of 'Fight My Way' will air on June 19 and 20 respectively, at 22:00 p.m. KST on KBS2.
