Mice homozygous for a hypomorphic allele exhibit increased levels of lysine and arginine associated with decreases in saccharopine, glutamine, and glutamate in adult brains, neurobehavioral deficits, and brain spongiosis with vacuolar lesions mostly affecting oligodendrocytes and myelin sheaths.
