Star producer Na Young-seok talked about why he chose Iceland as the destination for the new season of popular travel variety show “Youth Over Flowers.”

Actors Jo Jung-suk, Jung Woo and comedian Jung Sang-hoon on Wednesday left for Iceland. The trio will travel around the country for 10 days.

Na chose Iceland for one main reason: to see the Aurora Borealis. “You can only see the aurora during winter so I wanted to go on a trip in this season,” he told local media outlets. “Expect to see the beautiful aurora lights along the glacier.”

While there are many Nordic countries where aurora can be observed, Na chose Iceland because the country is the most affordable. “Also, Iceland has spectacular natural view. Many Hollywood films were filmed in Iceland, which boasts a beautiful landscape,” he said. “I want to capture the grand scenery and bring back beautiful clips to show the viewers.”

Na also talked about why he selected the trio for the show.

“All three of them were unknown to public for a long time,” he said. “After series of hardship, they are at the places where they are now. They did not immediately shoot to stardom with extraordinary looks, but it was their constant, lengthy endeavor that earned them the spotlight. So through this trip, I hope they will get a break, evaluate on the meaning of youth and talk about their future paths, which I think corresponds to the program’s concept.”

“Youth Over Flowers in Iceland” will air on Fridays in January, following “Three Meals a Day: Fishing Village” on cable channel tvN.
