The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Harry Zolnierczyk to a one-year contract, the team announced Friday. It is a two-way deal worth $550,000 at the NHL level.
Zolnierczyk, 25, was acquired by the Penguins from the Anaheim Ducks on June 24. He played in seven games with the Philadelphia Flyers last season, with one assist and 36 penalty minutes.
He also played in the American Hockey League with the Adirondack Phantoms and Norfolk Admirals, collecting 11 goals and 19 points with 68 penalty minutes in 61 games.
Zolnierczyk had seven points (three goals) and 71 penalty minutes in 44 NHL games with Philadelphia. He has appeared in 116 AHL regular-season games, totaling 22 goals, 23 assists and 142 penalty minutes.
He was signed by Philadelphia as an undrafted free agent on March 8, 2011. Zolnierczyk played four years at Brown University and was Ivy League Player of the Year in 2010-11.
