'George was a character, to say the least'

A U.S. Marine shares a rare moment of vulnerability during Memorial Day services in 1991 in front of a nursing home on Cannon Place in Kingsbridge Heights — a moment George Gutierrez, then a staff photographer for The Riverdale Press, was sure to capture.
