Hong Kong’s Marco Fu Ka-Chun continued his impressive form in 2016 as he came back from two frames down to overcome former World Champion Graeme Dott 4-2 in the third round of the Welsh Open in Cardiff.

The world number 13 registered his fourth win in five matches against the Scot in impressive fashion after falling behind early on.

His reward for prevailing is a meeting with Australian Neil Robertson, who saw off world number 29 Anthony McGill 4-2.

Fu, who ended 2015 with victory at the Gibraltar Open, is looking to go further than the quarter-final stage he has reached in his last two outings in Cardiff.

The 38-year-old has not reached the final of a ranking tournament since 2013 when he was beaten by mainlander Ding Junhui 10-9 in the final of the International Championship.

World number four Robertson said he expects Fu to be at his best when the two meet on Thursday.

“I was on the next table to Marco, so I was watching in between frames and it seemed like he had a really good game with Graeme,” said Robertson.

“I’ve known Marco for many, many years so I know what to expect – he’s a brilliant scorer when in the balls,
although he can be a bit inconsistent.

“He’s brilliant when he’s playing the top players but maybe not so much when he’s considered the favourite.

“I’m sure he’ll convince himself he’s the underdog against me and probably play really well.”

Elsewhere, crowd favourite Ronnie O’Sullivan complained of boredom after demolishing third round opponent Jimmy Robertson 4-0.

Despite making breaks of 94 and 131 on the way to round four, the ‘Rocket’ claimed he needs an “adult creche” to keep him occupied between matches.

Maybe they should stick an adult creche here to entertain us because I get so bored

“These events leave you with a lot of time on your hands, waiting around for one match a day,” said O’Sullivan, who won the Masters last month.

“Maybe they should stick an adult creche here to entertain us because I get so bored. Today I’ve had a haircut, been for a Chinese, been for a coffee, been to a cafe, went to the shops to buy some food, had a sleep and then played a game of snooker. I’d rather play two matches a day.”

O’Sullivan meets China’s 54th ranked Yu Delu in the last 16 on Thursday.
