ਚਾਰੇ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ਮਰੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਇ ॥ चारे अगनि निवारि मरु गुरमुखि हरि जलु पाइ ॥ Cẖāre agan nivār mar gurmukẖ har jal pā▫e. The Gurmukh puts out the four fires, with the Water of the Lord's Name.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਕਮਲੁ ਪ੍ਰਗਾਸਿਆ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਭਰਿਆ ਅਘਾਇ ॥ अंतरि कमलु प्रगासिआ अम्रितु भरिआ अघाइ ॥ Anṯar kamal pargāsi▫ā amriṯ bẖari▫ā agẖā▫e. The lotus blossoms deep within the heart, and filled with Ambrosial Nectar, one is satisfied.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਮੀਤੁ ਕਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਜਾਇ ॥੪॥੨੦॥ नानक सतगुरु मीतु करि सचु पावहि दरगह जाइ ॥४॥२०॥ Nānak saṯgur mīṯ kar sacẖ pāvahi ḏargėh jā▫e. ||4||20|| O Nanak, make the True Guru your friend; going to His Court, you shall obtain the True Lord. ||4||20||

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਹੁ ਪਿਆਰਿਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲਿ ॥ हरि हरि जपहु पिआरिआ गुरमति ले हरि बोलि ॥ Har har japahu pi▫āri▫ā gurmaṯ le har bol. Meditate on the Lord, Har, Har, O my beloved; follow the Guru's Teachings, and speak of the Lord.

ਮਨੁ ਸਚ ਕਸਵਟੀ ਲਾਈਐ ਤੁਲੀਐ ਪੂਰੈ ਤੋਲਿ ॥ मनु सच कसवटी लाईऐ तुलीऐ पूरै तोलि ॥ Man sacẖ kasvatī lā▫ī▫ai ṯulī▫ai pūrai ṯol. Apply the Touchstone of Truth to your mind, and see if it comes up to its full weight.

ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਰਿਦ ਮਾਣਕ ਮੋਲਿ ਅਮੋਲਿ ॥੧॥ कीमति किनै न पाईऐ रिद माणक मोलि अमोलि ॥१॥ Kīmaṯ kinai na pā▫ī▫ai riḏ māṇak mol amol. ||1|| No one has found the worth of the ruby of the heart; its value cannot be estimated. ||1||

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹੀਰਾ ਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ॥ भाई रे हरि हीरा गुर माहि ॥ Bẖā▫ī re har hīrā gur māhi. O Siblings of Destiny, the Diamond of the Lord is within the Guru.

ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਅਹਿਨਿਸਿ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਲਾਹਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ सतसंगति सतगुरु पाईऐ अहिनिसि सबदि सलाहि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Saṯsangaṯ saṯgur pā▫ī▫ai ahinis sabaḏ salāhi. ||1|| rahā▫o. The True Guru is found in the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. Day and night, praise the Word of His Shabad. ||1||Pause||

ਸਚੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਧਨੁ ਰਾਸਿ ਲੈ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰ ਪਰਗਾਸਿ ॥ सचु वखरु धनु रासि लै पाईऐ गुर परगासि ॥ Sacẖ vakẖar ḏẖan rās lai pā▫ī▫ai gur pargās. The True Merchandise, Wealth and Capital are obtained through the Radiant Light of the Guru.

ਜਿਉ ਅਗਨਿ ਮਰੈ ਜਲਿ ਪਾਇਐ ਤਿਉ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦਾਸਨਿ ਦਾਸਿ ॥ जिउ अगनि मरै जलि पाइऐ तिउ त्रिसना दासनि दासि ॥ Ji▫o agan marai jal pā▫i▫ai ṯi▫o ṯarisnā ḏāsan ḏās. Just as fire is extinguished by pouring on water, desire becomes the slave of the Lord's slaves.

ਜਮ ਜੰਦਾਰੁ ਨ ਲਗਈ ਇਉ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਤਰੈ ਤਰਾਸਿ ॥੨॥ जम जंदारु न लगई इउ भउजलु तरै तरासि ॥२॥ Jam janḏār na lag▫ī i▫o bẖa▫ojal ṯarai ṯarās. ||2|| The Messenger of Death will not touch you; in this way, you shall cross over the terrifying world-ocean, carrying others across with you. ||2||

ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਕੂੜੁ ਨ ਭਾਵਈ ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਚ ਭਾਇ ॥ गुरमुखि कूड़ु न भावई सचि रते सच भाइ ॥ Gurmukẖ kūṛ na bẖāv▫ī sacẖ raṯe sacẖ bẖā▫e. The Gurmukhs do not like falsehood. They are imbued with Truth; they love only Truth.

ਸਾਕਤ ਸਚੁ ਨ ਭਾਵਈ ਕੂੜੈ ਕੂੜੀ ਪਾਂਇ ॥ साकत सचु न भावई कूड़ै कूड़ी पांइ ॥ Sākaṯ sacẖ na bẖāv▫ī kūrhai kūṛī pāʼn▫e. The shaaktas, the faithless cynics, do not like the Truth; false are the foundations of the false.

ਸਚਿ ਰਤੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲਿਐ ਸਚੇ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩॥ सचि रते गुरि मेलिऐ सचे सचि समाइ ॥३॥ Sacẖ raṯe gur meli▫ai sacẖe sacẖ samā▫e. ||3|| Imbued with Truth, you shall meet the Guru. The true ones are absorbed into the True Lord. ||3||

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਲਾਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਹੀਰੁ ॥ मन महि माणकु लालु नामु रतनु पदारथु हीरु ॥ Man mėh māṇak lāl nām raṯan paḏārath hīr. Within the mind are emeralds and rubies, the Jewel of the Naam, treasures and diamonds.

ਸਚੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਗਹਿਰ ਗੰਭੀਰੁ ॥ सचु वखरु धनु नामु है घटि घटि गहिर ग्मभीरु ॥ Sacẖ vakẖar ḏẖan nām hai gẖat gẖat gahir gambẖīr. The Naam is the True Merchandise and Wealth; in each and every heart, His Presence is deep and profound.

ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਦਇਆ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹੀਰੁ ॥੪॥੨੧॥ नानक गुरमुखि पाईऐ दइआ करे हरि हीरु ॥४॥२१॥ Nānak gurmukẖ pā▫ī▫ai ḏa▫i▫ā kare har hīr. ||4||21|| O Nanak, the Gurmukh finds the Diamond of the Lord, by His Kindness and Compassion. ||4||21||

ਭਰਮੇ ਭਾਹਿ ਨ ਵਿਝਵੈ ਜੇ ਭਵੈ ਦਿਸੰਤਰ ਦੇਸੁ ॥ भरमे भाहि न विझवै जे भवै दिसंतर देसु ॥ Bẖarme bẖāhi na vijẖvai je bẖavai disanṯar ḏes. The fire of doubt is not extinguished, even by wandering through foreign lands and countries.

ਅੰਤਰਿ ਮੈਲੁ ਨ ਉਤਰੈ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਧ੍ਰਿਗੁ ਵੇਸੁ ॥ अंतरि मैलु न उतरै ध्रिगु जीवणु ध्रिगु वेसु ॥ Anṯar mail na uṯrai ḏẖarig jīvaṇ ḏẖarig ves. If inner filth is not removed, one's life is cursed, and one's clothes are cursed.

ਹੋਰੁ ਕਿਤੈ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥੧॥ होरु कितै भगति न होवई बिनु सतिगुर के उपदेस ॥१॥ Hor kiṯai bẖagaṯ na hova▫ī bin saṯgur ke upḏes. ||1|| There is no other way to perform devotional worship, except through the Teachings of the True Guru. ||1||

ਮਨ ਰੇ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਗਨਿ ਨਿਵਾਰਿ ॥ मन रे गुरमुखि अगनि निवारि ॥ Man re gurmukẖ agan nivār. O mind, become Gurmukh, and extinguish the fire within.

ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਕਹਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਉਮੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਮਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ गुर का कहिआ मनि वसै हउमै त्रिसना मारि ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Gur kā kahi▫ā man vasai ha▫umai ṯarisnā mār. ||1|| rahā▫o. Let the Words of the Guru abide within your mind; let egotism and desires die. ||1||Pause||

ਮਨੁ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਨਿਰਮੋਲੁ ਹੈ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮਿ ਪਤਿ ਪਾਇ ॥ मनु माणकु निरमोलु है राम नामि पति पाइ ॥ Man māṇak nirmol hai rām nām paṯ pā▫e. The jewel of the mind is priceless; through the Name of the Lord, honor is obtained.

ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ मिलि सतसंगति हरि पाईऐ गुरमुखि हरि लिव लाइ ॥ Mil saṯsangaṯ har pā▫ī▫ai gurmukẖ har liv lā▫e. Join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, and find the Lord. The Gurmukh embraces love for the Lord.

ਆਪੁ ਗਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਲਲੈ ਸਲਲ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥ आपु गइआ सुखु पाइआ मिलि सललै सलल समाइ ॥२॥ Āp ga▫i▫ā sukẖ pā▫i▫ā mil sallai salal samā▫e. ||2|| Give up your selfishness, and you shall find peace; like water mingling with water, you shall merge in absorption. ||2||

ਜਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਿਓ ਸੁ ਅਉਗੁਣਿ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥ जिनि हरि हरि नामु न चेतिओ सु अउगुणि आवै जाइ ॥ Jin har har nām na cẖeṯi▫o so a▫oguṇ āvai jā▫e. Those who have not contemplated the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, are unworthy; they come and go in reincarnation.

ਜਿਸੁ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨ ਭੇਟਿਓ ਸੁ ਭਉਜਲਿ ਪਚੈ ਪਚਾਇ ॥ जिसु सतगुरु पुरखु न भेटिओ सु भउजलि पचै पचाइ ॥ Jis saṯgur purakẖ na bẖeti▫o so bẖa▫ojal pacẖai pacẖā▫e. One who has not met with the True Guru, the Primal Being, is bothered and bewildered in the terrifying world-ocean.

ਇਹੁ ਮਾਣਕੁ ਜੀਉ ਨਿਰਮੋਲੁ ਹੈ ਇਉ ਕਉਡੀ ਬਦਲੈ ਜਾਇ ॥੩॥ इहु माणकु जीउ निरमोलु है इउ कउडी बदलै जाइ ॥३॥ Ih māṇak jī▫o nirmol hai i▫o ka▫udī baḏlai jā▫e. ||3|| This jewel of the soul is priceless, and yet it is being squandered like this, in exchange for a mere shell. ||3||

ਜਿੰਨਾ ਸਤਗੁਰੁ ਰਸਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪੁਰਖ ਸੁਜਾਣ ॥ जिंना सतगुरु रसि मिलै से पूरे पुरख सुजाण ॥ Jinna saṯgur ras milai se pūre purakẖ sujāṇ. Those who joyfully meet with the True Guru are perfectly fulfilled and wise.

ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਲੰਘੀਐ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ गुर मिलि भउजलु लंघीऐ दरगह पति परवाणु ॥ Gur mil bẖa▫ojal langẖī▫ai ḏargėh paṯ parvāṇ. Meeting with the Guru, they cross over the terrifying world-ocean. In the Court of the Lord, they are honored and approved.

ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਮੁਖ ਉਜਲੇ ਧੁਨਿ ਉਪਜੈ ਸਬਦੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੁ ॥੪॥੨੨॥ नानक ते मुख उजले धुनि उपजै सबदु नीसाणु ॥४॥२२॥ Nānak ṯe mukẖ ujle ḏẖun upjai sabaḏ nīsāṇ. ||4||22|| O Nanak, their faces are radiant; the Music of the Shabad, the Word of God, wells up within them. ||4||22||

ਵਣਜੁ ਕਰਹੁ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਹੋ ਵਖਰੁ ਲੇਹੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥ वणजु करहु वणजारिहो वखरु लेहु समालि ॥ vaṇaj karahu vaṇjāriho vakẖar leho samāl. Make your deals, dealers, and take care of your merchandise.

ਤੈਸੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਵਿਸਾਹੀਐ ਜੈਸੀ ਨਿਬਹੈ ਨਾਲਿ ॥ तैसी वसतु विसाहीऐ जैसी निबहै नालि ॥ Ŧaisī vasaṯ visāhī▫ai jaisī nibhai nāl. Buy that object which will go along with you.

ਅਗੈ ਸਾਹੁ ਸੁਜਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਲੈਸੀ ਵਸਤੁ ਸਮਾਲਿ ॥੧॥ अगै साहु सुजाणु है लैसी वसतु समालि ॥१॥ Agai sāhu sujāṇ hai laisī vasaṯ samāl. ||1|| In the next world, the All-knowing Merchant will take this object and care for it. ||1||

ਭਾਈ ਰੇ ਰਾਮੁ ਕਹਹੁ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥ भाई रे रामु कहहु चितु लाइ ॥ Bẖā▫ī re rām kahhu cẖiṯ lā▫e. O Siblings of Destiny, chant the Lord's Name, and focus your consciousness on Him.

ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਲੈ ਚਲਹੁ ਸਹੁ ਦੇਖੈ ਪਤੀਆਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ हरि जसु वखरु लै चलहु सहु देखै पतीआइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥ Har jas vakẖar lai cẖalhu saho ḏekẖai paṯī▫ā▫e. ||1|| rahā▫o. Take the Merchandise of the Lord's Praises with you. Your Husband Lord shall see this and approve. ||1||Pause||
