Lee Harpin's Hot People column: Sexy Mel's Got Man A-Beale!; Soap Awards Special: She wins TV top totty title.

SIZZLING EastEnders babe TAMZIN OUTHWAITE was last night crowned sexiest woman in soap.

Tasty Tamzin, 27 - sexy Melanie Healy in the series - was one of four EastEnders stars to pick up gongs at the first-ever British Soap Awards.

Coronation Street won overall Best Soap in a viewer vote and transexual couple Roy and Hayley won Best On-Screen Partnership.

But it was Cockney geezerbird Tamzin who was the toast of the ceremony - which was hosted by RICHARD MADELEY and JUDY FINNIGAN, and will be screened on Wednesday on ITV.

Fellow stars, including PATSY PALMER, who plays Bianca, cheered as she collected the award.

Tamzin beat off TRACY SHAW and DENISE WELCH of Coronation Street, as well as Emmerdale's CLAIRE KING.

She turned up in Albert Square last year as the long-lost sister of vicar Alex Healy. Soon every red-blooded male in Walford was trying to bed her.

Now she's dating drippy Ian Beale.

Tamzin's EastEnders' co-star MICHAEL GRECO, who plays Italian Beppe, picked up Sexiest Male gong, beating co-star ROSS KEMP, as well as Corrie's ADAM RICKETT and Emmerdale's STUART WADE.

MARTINE MCCUTCHEON, who quit as Tiff in EastEnders last year, took Best Storyline gong for the scenes when she found Grant was cheating on her.

Ross Kemp, who plays Grant, won Best Actor, and his screen mum BARBARA WINDSOR picked up Best Actress for her powerful performances, including her battle against breast cancer.
