#TheLIST: 10 Best Homemade Face Masks

Option one: Trolling Pinterest and finding homemade masks from who-knows-who made of who-knows-what. Option two: Taking the proven advice of skincare expert Adina Grigore—her book Skin Cleanse: The Simple, All-Natural Program for Clear, Calm, Happy Skin (Harper Wave) published last year; she also has a degree in integrative nutrition and a holistic skincare line. We're guessing you'll go for option two. For each: Mix up in your kitchen, smooth along your face, and allow to dry before rinsing with warm water.

Cocoa Power

"Antioxidant rich cocoa powder repairs and prevents cell damage, while sea salt kills bacteria and is great for blemishes. The olive oil makes the salt and cocoa gentler on your skin."

"It sounds crazy, but mayo will nourish and soften skin. The orange juice masks the scent wonderfully, and it also brightens the skin with vitamin C. Corn flour is a soft exfoliant and does an amazing job soaking up excess oil from the skin."

1 tablespoon homemade mayo (or organic store bought)

1 tablespoon orange juice (fresh is best, bottled is fine)

2 tablespoons corn flour

"Chickpeas are an amazing detoxifier, pulling out harmful toxins, neutralizing free radicals, healing sun damage, and generally energizing your skin. Turmeric regulates oil production, reduces inflammation, and heals scars, especially those from acne. And no, the turmeric won't dye your skin yellow!"

1 tablespoon chickpea flour or mashed cooked chickpeas

Generous pinch of turmeric powder (enough to tint the

Pumpkin Perfect

"This seasonal recipe is via my good friend Jordan Pacitti of Jordan Samuel Skin and is great for removing dead skin and unclogging pores. Flaxseeds provide a gentle physical exfoliation while the pumpkin enzymes and lactose in the yogurt offer a chemical exfoliation. Add in raw honey for super-charged hydration."

¼ cup full-fat Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon raw honey

¼ cup pumpkin purée (not pumpkin pie mix)

"This is basically my version of a glycolic acid mask/peel. Sugar is a great all-over exfoliant, and the vitamin C in lime makes your skin firmer and more youthful. Papaya is a total superfood for your skin—it's high in vitamin A, removes dead cells, and brightens."
