Myanmar urged to grant Rohingya citizenship

Panel led by ex-UN chief calls for repealing law that disenfranchises Muslim minority

YANGON -- Myanmar should grant citizenship and equal rights to its Rohingya Muslim minority, an expert panel led by former United Nations chief Kofi Annan said Thursday.

Changing a 1982 law that denies citizenship to the group is among 88 recommendations submitted to the Myanmar government.
