About the author (1972)

Stanley Edmunde Brock was born in Preston, Lancashire, England on April 21, 1936. He became a cowboy in British Guiana and was the manager of the 4,000-square-mile Dadanwa Ranch from 1952 to 1968. He wrote several books including Leemo: A True Story of a Man's Friendship with a Mountain Lion and Jungle Cowboy (republished as All the Cowboys Were Indians). These books led to him becoming the co-host of Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom. He also appeared in the television show The Corner Bar and in the movies Escape from Angola and Galyon. He was credited with discovering a rare species of bat. In 1985, he founded a volunteer mobile medical service for uninsured Americans and poor people in underdeveloped countries called Remote Area Medical clinic service. He died from complications of a stroke on August 29, 2018 at the age of 82.
