PROVIDENCE, RI – Head men's hockey coach Brendan Whittet '94 has announced that rising junior Dennis Robertson (Fort St. John, BC) will serve as the Bears' captain for 2012-13 as voted on by his peers. Robertson will be joined in leading the Bears by four assistant captains – rising seniors Richie Crowley (Canton, MA), Francis Drolet (Lachine, QUE), and Chris Zaires (Aberdeen, NJ), and rising junior Garnet Hathaway (Kennebunkport, ME).

"Dennis is the epitome of a Brown hockey player," said Whittet. "He is a talented player who plays the game with passion, desire and grit. He possesses tremendous work ethic, courage and a positive attitude that will allow him to be an effective leader for Brown hockey. Dennis is a proven winner and I am proud to have him as our 2012-13 captain."

A two-time Second Team All-Ivy selection, Robertson had another strong year on the Bears' blueline as part of Brown's defensive pairing. One of just four players on this year's team to appear in all 32 games, Robertson finished fifth on the team in scoring with 16 points (2g, 14a) and second on the team with 14 assists. Equally effective on both sides of the puck, Robertson was also a big part of the Bears' special teams, playing on both the top power play and penalty kill. In 62 career games, the Toronto draftee has earned 33 points (8g, 25a).

A three-year contributor on the blueline, Crowley has appeared in 86 career games and has posted 18 career points (2g, 16a). As a junior this past season, Crowley played in 29 games and posted career-highs for points (11), goals (2), and assists (9). Drolet has appeared in 55 career games, including 24 in 2011-12. He enters his final season with five career points (3g, 2a).

Zaires has also been a three-year contributor up front and has played in 94 career games and earned 58 points (21g, 37a). This past season, Zaires finished sixth on the team in scoring with 13 points (7g, 6a) in 27 games, including two power play goals and two game-winning goals. A defensive forward, Hathaway has been a two-year contributor up front, having played in 57 career games. He has posted 22 career points (8g, 14a). As a sophomore this past season, Hathaway finished with 8 points (3g, 5a), including two power play goals, in 26 games.
