Ingrid Jungermann, whose first feature, Women Who Kill, just premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and won a best screenplay juried award, is heading to television. Showtime has put in development F To 7th, a half-hour comedy based on Jungermann’s popular web series of the same name.
Jungermann will write the adaptation and executive produce alongside Wet Hot American Summer co-creator Michael Showalter, who appeared on the web series, as well as director Jamie Babbit (But I’m A Cheerleader), Portlandia co-executive producer Karey Dornetto, and Principato-Young’s Peter Principato (Flaked).
F To 7th chronicles the female descent into pre-middle age in a world where sexuality and gender have left old-fashioned lesbianism behind. Jungermann created and starred in the web series, which ran for two seasons, but is not attached to act in the TV version.
Jungermann earned a WGA nomination for F To 7th, which featured Amy Sedaris, Showalter, Gaby Hoffmann, Olympia Dukakis and Janeane Garofalo. Here is a trailer:
Jungermann co-created her first web series, The Slope, with Desiree Akhavan while they were both at NYU Graduate Film School. She followed up with the 2013 F To 7th and her featured debut, Women Who Kill, which she wrote, directed and stars in. The indie, about two female crime podcasters (and former couple) investigating a suspected serial killer, premiered at Tribeca last week and just won Best Screenplay in a U.S. Narrative Feature Film. “This unique and deftly hilarious tale told in Brooklyn is from a fresh voice and a true original,” the jury wrote in their comment.
Jungermann is repped by Principato-Young and Felker Toczek. Showalter is with UTA, Principato-Young and Stone Genow. Dornetto is with UTA and Kaplan/Perrone. Babbit is with UTA and 3 Arts.
