MGM and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have renewed their existing worldwide agreement through June 2020, the companies said today. Fox will continue to handle marketing and distribution services for Blu-ray and DVD, and manage the operations and marketing of Digital HD and transactional VOD for MGM’s film library. Titles included in the deal are MGM’s James Bond movies, the Rocky franchise and discs for History’s Vikings. The latest deal extends the partnership that began in 1999.
“Our partnership with MGM has been a tremendous success over the past 17 years,” said Mike Dunn, President Worldwide, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. “It is a privilege to continue to steward their prestigious library of commercially and critically acclaimed films.”
Home Entertainment fared well for MGM in Q1 2016, helped by video release for the latest Bond release Spectre, as well as the tail-end of a worldwide home entertainment promotion for the franchise. It was one of the bright spots in a so-so earnings report.
Said MGM chairman and CEO Gary Barber: “We are thrilled to renew our longstanding partnership with 20th Century Fox. The Fox Home Entertainment team have delivered strong results for MGM and we look forward to more success together in the future.”
