New civil unions act enters into force

Ljubljana, 24 May - A law that provides formal equality to gay couples, except for marriage, adoptions or in-vitro fertilisation (IVF), entered into force on Tuesday in what is seen as a key step in the provision of equal rights to same-sex couples. Its application has been deferred by nine months, until 24 February 2017.
