The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks was founded by a group of actors and entertainers in 1868, and this building belonged to them from 1923 until 2001, when they sold it to the New Life Fellowship Church.  The edification was built between 1923 and 1924 with a neo classical style that modeled Italian Renaissance palazzo type.
