The 120-year-old university has so far conferred its supreme honorary degree on only 10 distinguished persons in the world.
The university said Fadnavis was chosen for the honour for his initiative taken through major reforms for socio-economic development in Maharashtra.
Fadnavis has been invited to Japan to address a special interaction session with the university students and people of Osaka. The CM had recently visited Japan to promote business, culture and tourism between the two countries.
