Al-Quds Day to be marked tomorrow

ISLAMABAD - Muslims in Pakistan will observe Al-Quds Day tomorrow (May 7) virtually across the country as rallies will not be possible due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Commemoration of Al-Quds Day began some more than four decades ago as an annual affirmation of the Muslims’ solidarity with people of Palestine in their struggle for the liberation of Al-Quds. Since Al-Quds Day was first proclaimed, Muslims worldwide every year observe this day, drawing attention of the world to the violations of Zionist and desecration of Islam’s third holiest mosque, as well as their continued occupation of Palestine and repression of the Palestinian people.

Every year, rallies are held across Pakistan to mark the Al-Quds Day and express solidarity with Palestinians in their struggle against Israeli occupation.

Apart from the main rallies, conferences and seminars, demonstrations are held in the Islamabad, as well as in Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Faisalabad, and other districts and towns of Pakistan.

Mainstream political-religious parties, Jamaat-e-Islami, Tehrik-e-Jafria Pakistan, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimin, and others also support such calls.
