More than a year after construction got underway, Brooklyn Navy Yard’s massive new office building at Dock 72 has topped out. Once complete, this 17-story building will be home to creative and tech firms, most notably WeWork, which has signed on to 222,000 square feet of space at the building, and is co-developing the project along with Rudin Development and Boston Properties.

Aside from the offices, the building will have 35,000 square feet of amenities, all curated by WeWork. These amenities include a 13,000-square-foot food hall, a 15,000-square-foot health and wellness center, an open lawn with games, easy access to a new NYC Ferry terminal, an outdoor basketball court, and a conference center that can accommodate up to 200 people.

The building’s design, by S9 Architecture, is a nod to the Navy Yard’s maritime history. The building’s massing is meant to resemble forms of ships that were built in the Navy Yard. This particular design also allows for 18,000 square feet of terraces that will offer views of Brooklyn and the Manhattan skyline. In addition, the building is protected from future storms due to the fact that it is supported by a set of 20 42-foot-tall V-shaped columns of steel.

UPDATE 10/9/17: Field Condition recently stopped by the construction site and you can get a fuller sense of the construction at Dock 72 below.

Dock 72 is just one of many projects transforming the Navy Yard. Others include Building 77, the Green Manufacturing Center, and the Admirals Row revamp. Construction on Dock 72 will wrap up next year.
